Is online schooling right for you?
by Erin Callahan
Is online school better that regular school? On one hand, online schooling has fewer distractions then regular schooling, but then many students do not take it because they would miss their friends. I believe that only the situation at hand can decide if the student should take on online school or regular school.
Some parents believe that online schooling is better because the classroom has too many distractions for their child to succeed. Junior Jonathan Callahan says, “I think that online school has fewer distractions than ordinary school.” Sometimes that might not be the problem. It may be that the student doesn’t understand the way the teacher teaches. For both of these situations I believe that online schooling is the best.
But some St James students seem to have a different idea. Most students don’t go to online school because they would miss there friends. Freshman Elizabeth Weaver says, “I will not go to online school because I would really miss all of my friends.” Freshman Haley Baker seems to agree with her. She said, “If I went to online school I would not be able to see my friends.”
When you think about it is your social life better that a good education? The answer is no, because a good education can give students a good job and life. Of course they can have a social life, but they shouldn’t let it interfere with school.
I believe that online school is the only option when the student is truly suffering in school. Online school seems to be a good option because it helps students get a god education, but many students will not go simply because of there friends. I believe that regular school is the best option because it makes most students feel comfortable with there friends while getting a good education.
