“Dude, where’s my car?” These famous words were said by a bumbling stoner in a movie about the day after a hard night of partying. The majority of society believes teens live a similar life. Yes, it may be true that drugs affect our lives, but why is it such a big deal?
It is very difficult to understand just how hard that might be. We encounter drugs far more often then we should. But even our parents had this problem when they were young. Yes, drugs have been around THAT long. Even longer. But the beliefs that grew with them have changed so drastically, it’s hard to believe that we’re even talking about the same thing.
One of the most famous drugs associated with teens is marijuana. Strong opinions are mingled with this drug. Opinions circulate through the halls of St. James.
Junior Nicole Rabbitt says, “Yea, I’ve seen my friends be influenced, but I’m proud to say I’ve been strong. I always hear people talking about weed and getting drunk over the weekend and I can’t help but think...why?”
I fully agree with Nicole. I’m not judging anybody for what they do with their social life but I could honestly care less to hear you brag about how crazy you got.
Then of course there’s the opposite end of the spectrum. Those people that think weed and alcohol came straight from the devil’s hands himself. Don’t go around preaching the evil of drugs. Don’t be that guy. If you don’t like it, stay away from it and vice versa.
Junior Avery Greeson says, “Well I disagree with drinking or smoking. I don’t think people my age should be doing it and I don’t want anything to do with it. I exclude anything in my life that I don’t want to ruin my beliefs.”
Perfect example of what everyone should do. Over enthusiastic opinions is what can cause most of the dilemma.
