A few weeks ago I went to see Parental Guidance. Overall, this is a funny, feel good movie, though it may not be appropriate for all ages.
Freshman Meredith Newell said, “I went to see the movie, it was so funny, and they should most definitely need to make a second movie.”
Parental Guidance is a hilarious movie about an old school grandfather Artie, who is fired from being an announcer at baseball games. Him and his eager-to-please wife, Diane, agree to babysit their three grandkids when their over protective parents go away for work. But when modern day problems collide with Artie and Diane's old school methods of tough rules, lots of love and old-fashioned games, it's learning to bend and not holding your ground that binds a family together.
Andy Fickman, director of Parental Guidance, had a lot of luck finding the people to play the cast for this movie. Billy Chrystal, who played Artie Decker, was the perfect actor for the old school grandparent. Bette Milder, who played Diane Decker, was also a perfect match for an old school grandparent.
Marisa Tomei, who played Alice Simmons, was an over protective mom, who wanted her children to eat organic and healthy. Tom Everett Scott played the dad that was always caught up in work. Bailee Madison played a talented, smart daughter who had to do everything the correct way named Harper. Joshua Rush played a stuttering, weird son named Turner. Finally the imagination filed son named Barker. Kyle Harrison Breitkopf played Barker.
I would recommend this movie to a family with teens. I would not recommend this movie to a family with children younger than ten. Parental guidance has a lot of inappropriate parts that would not be appropriate for most kids.
