After a long weekend of the NFL Scouting Combine, it is time to start reflecting on some of the player’s performances that could affect their draft stock for the NFL Draft.

Many players came out and improved their draft stock tremendously. First, David Amerson, a 6’1’’ cornerback out of NC State, ran a 4.38 in the 40 yard dash, making him a very interesting prospect showing he has the size and speed to compete at the NFL level.
Cornerbacks are ever so crucial due to the rise in big physical receivers like Calvin Johnson and Julio Jones. Look to see Dee Milliner and Amerson to come off the board in the first round.

Another rise in draft stock includes Tavon Austin, an undersized speedy receiver from West Virginia. He looked incredibly solid in the catching drills and the shuttle drills.

There was no question about his athleticism, but he performed at a very high level and not to mention a 4.34 in the 40 yard dash. I look to see Tavon Austin come off the board in the mid-1st round.

Some players however, really showed disappointment in scouts and coaches in attendance at the NFL Combine.

Manti Te’o was probably the biggest letdown in the workout. Te’o, linebacker out of Notre Dame, ran a 4.82 40 yard dash, which turns heads in the other direction for many scouts. He was slow and in the linebacker drills he looked very uninstinctive and proved he didn’t deserve to come off the board in the first round.

I see Te’o to come off the board mid to late 2nd round at best. As a whole I was completely blindsided by the lack of speed and agility out of one of the top linebackers in the draft.

The 2013 NFL Combine said a lot about what to see in the 2013 NFL Draft. This 4 day workout made and broke some peoples draft stock and it will be interesting from here on out to see how teams test free agency and gather information on players in the upcoming draft.
