In it’s heyday, the popular Fox program, “Glee” had American’s everywhere glued to their television sets. The show has since lost momentum, but the St. James Drama department has a new show in the works that is heading to the stage Thursday, May 9th full steam ahead.

A new class has formed within the drama department that focuses in show choir performances. The class calls themselves Forward Motion, and this will be their first formal performance on the St. James stage.

Mrs. Howard’s first block has been bustling with activity this semester with the musical theater and show choir classes sharing the classroom and the spotlight. Students from both classes will be participating in Forward Motion’s debut.

Show attendees can expect a wide variety of musical genres. From 80’s pop to Colbie Cailat to Tiao Cruz to a medley from the show that inspired this group, Glee, there will be songs for all tastes. It’s no secret that

St. James is home to many talented singers, many of whom will be performing with Forward Motion. The majority of the cast of this year’s popular school musical “The Sound of Music” will be singing and dancing their hearts out once again.

Senior, Meg Shelton said “I’m really excited to get back on the stage after performing as Mother Abbess. I think Forward Motion has a great show set up.”

Forward Motion will continue to be a class at St. James. They brought a test run of their show to St. James middle school to promote the drama department as a whole.

Senior Brianna Barnes said “I was glad to get the chance to perform for the middle school. I hope we inspired a lot of kids to join show choir next year so this idea becomes a St. James tradition. I hope a lot of of curious students come to the show to see what we do and see if they might be interested in it next year.”

Forward Motion will be performing in the auditorium on Thursday, May 9th at 7PM. Admission will be charged.
